Stories from a life still unfolding

Finding the courage to be seen, to begin again, and to write the next chapter.

My life has given me beautiful chapters, painful ones and a few spectacular detours. Along the way, I’ve carried stories about myself that needed questioning, found courage I didn’t know I had, and returned often to the grace and love Mum taught me.

This journal is where I share some of that journey. You’ll find personal stories, reflections from my life and work as a counsellor, and thoughts about relationships, recovery, belonging and the complicated business of being human.

At the heart of these pages is the same curiosity that shapes who I am: what becomes possible when we look beneath the surface and meet ourselves, and each other, with a little less judgement?

My hope is that something here helps you feel less alone, offers a different way of seeing things, or encourages you as you find your own way forward.

You’re warmly welcome here.

  • Carried By Mercy

I didn’t grow up with language for our Jewish heritage, but I did grow up with a sense that our family carried something old. And so, in these days, aware of the mercy that has carried my own people, may that mercy now hold those who grieve.

  • Redefining Worth

I saw my daughter’s face, the way she shrank into herself, as if she had been branded with an expectation she had never considered. But it wasn’t just the words that hurt her, it was the burden of carrying them.

  • The Unsent Letter

My dishevelled mind hovers, like a hesitant friend who doesn’t know what to say. I’m here to write a letter, or maybe just pretend to. I’ve written many unsent letters over the years. So, here I am, just me, my thoughts, and the madness that threatens to steal my peace.

  • Pruning Day

Have you ever felt like you’re being pruned? It feels like the dark night of the soul, and it’s just that, your soul. Mind games fueled by emotions that keep us bound and stuck in never ending loops of anxiety and despair. The heat comes and we retreat, fiercely protecting ourselves from the pruning sheers.…
